The World of Culture celebrates the opening of the new Sculpture Park Antonio Campillo (26/11/2010)

The project includes installation of nine sculptures, along with a large bust of the author.

The initiative has helped the Foundation Cajamurcia and Murcia tram.

Five of the pieces were donated to the city by the author in November 2008, in addition to other four who left a legacy.

The late sculptor Antonio Campillo already has in the city of Murcia with a great sculpture park, thanks to the donation at the time conduct the 5-piece master monuments, which have added another 4 Campillo sculptures bequeathed to Murcia .

To these, add one tenth piece: a splendid portrait of the sculptor in bronze, the work done and donated by his most prominent disciple, Marta Balmaseda.

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, accompanied by President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, the President of the Cajamurcia, Carlos Egea, director general of Murcia tram, Severiano arias, and the President of the Foundation Antonio Campillo Clemente Garcia, who opened the park which is located at Avenida Principe de Asturias.

A large steel plate engraved offers visitors the journey for each of the works, which have been installed on a weathering steel and a cast concrete base.

Among the works that make up the sculpture park are typical representations of teacher Murcia Campillo on women, cast in bronze by a foundry in Madrid.

The pieces have dimensions ranging between 1.35 and 2.10 meters.

The author himself named each of his creations with names like The Locust, The Cansera, Murcia Tribute to Women, Challenging the Wind or Coscaletas.

The importance of the works forming the new Sculpture Park lies in the artistic quality of each piece selected by Antonio Campillo as examples of his sculptural.

All are listed and have been exhibited in many exhibitions in Spain and abroad.

In recent weeks there has been a comprehensive study of each sculpture for distribution by the space they occupy.

Mayor House has stressed that, from the opening of the park are the Murcia who enjoy the work of the immortal sculptor, whom the city of Murcia was Favorite Son.

Miguel Angel House also added that, during the inauguration of the exhibition space, ten Murcia cultural personalities have produced a book describing each of the works.

The edition was presented during the opening of the park.
