The House welcomes the work carried out by professionals in supporting victims of domestic violence The Municipal Corporation observed a minute's silence in memory of victims (25/11/2010)

The Plenum of the Corporation has approved this morning, with votes against the opposition political groups, PSOE and IU-LV-) a motion that the thanks to all professionals from different fields, provides assistance and support to victims of domestic violence.

The Municipal People's Party in the city of Murcia offers the following alternative motion:

1.

The Plenum of the Corporation rejects all forms of violence against women, whether physical, psychological, sexual and economic, and reaffirms its commitment to the development of all measures and actions contained within the framework of our competence that are already being developed, in order to prevent violence, protect women who may suffer as their sons and daughters, and helping them and normalize their situation.

2.

The Plenum of the Corporation Reaffirms further develop awareness campaigns for both the general population and specific groups to continue to identify the causes and consequences of gender violence.

3.

The Plenum of the Corporation is committed to continue to develop specialized, comprehensive care for victims, beginning with the detection of these situations, in order that no further, and accompany them at all times, from different professional fields in process of overcoming this problem.

This should be done with the consequent need for coordination that takes place from the municipal staff to other institutions, organizations and technical teams involved in the care settings and contexts of gender violence.

4.

The Plenum of the Corporation urges the Government of the Nation to improve, with rigor and diligence, the response to abuse, the need to adequately implement the measures foreseen in the law, the need to improve human and material resources to eradicate this social stigma that prevents us from further progress along the path of progress and welfare.

5.

The Plenum of the Corporation acknowledges the daily work performed by the Equipment Protection and Family Services (EPAF) of the Local Police, the Security Forces of the State, and all municipal officers who, through of the various councils of the City of Murcia, working to comply with the Municipal Plan of Equality, with the conviction that only an egalitarian society will end gender violence.
