The Socialist Group calls upon the collective rebellion of citizens against domestic violence (24/11/2010)

The PSOE mayor Lola Abellon defend a motion tomorrow, coinciding with the International Day of Action against gender violence, to which place, permanently and in a conspicuous place of the City, a banner with the slogan "No Violence Against women "and for those months where there are victims of such violence be called a merger of five minutes of silence before the full City

Coinciding with International Day of Action against gender violence, the socialist mayor asked Lola Abellon tomorrow Thursday, at the conclusion of the full bulletin, the Corporation showing their pain and respect for victims of domestic violence and make a public recognition the courage and bravery of so many women who, day after day, they can overcome the fear and barriers erected along the centuries of male dominance, to rebel against your abuser and bring to justice.

This motion-clear-not intended Abellon debate, controversy or inconsistency between political groups, only intended to provide a bit in what we might consider a call for collective rebellion of citizens against domestic violence.

"Today more than ever is required the complicity of all men and women to fight this social evil, because the problem is not only the victims but society as a whole, hence our duty to denounce it publicly," he defends the PSOE Councillor.

Therefore propose to PP Abellon full placement of a permanent and visible place of the City, a banner with the slogan "Stop violence against women."

We also ask that in the months in which there are victims of domestic violence be called a rally at Town Hall door five minutes before the full City, which read the number of victims and their origins, making a public appeal at this concentration.

"If we are silent before the aggression, says the socialist mayor, we are helping to create spaces of impunity for perpetrators and increasing the suffering of victims, mostly women, but also their children."
