The UCAM already part of the World Tourism Organization (19/11/2010)

San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) officially notified, on Wednesday November 24, membership, and Affiliate Member of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The event will take place during a presentation that involve, among others, the director of the UNWTO Affiliate Members, Javier Blanco.

The World Tourism Organization, a specialized organization belonging to the United Nations and leading international organization in the field of tourism, approved last October as the request to the WTO Affiliate Member of the UCAM and Tourism Degree.

The Executive Council of the Organization was asked to approve its membership during its 89 th session, held in Kish Island (Iran).

It is noteworthy that in this way, the UCAM and Tourism Degree as part of an organization that plays a central role in promoting the development of responsible, sustainable and accessible for all, with special attention to the interests of developing countries.

In addition, the WTO is a global forum for tourism policy issues and a useful source of expertise in this field.

According to the director of the BA in Tourism from the Catholic University of Murcia, Ginesa Martínez del Vas, University of belonging to this organization will "interact with potential partners in joint projects and find the latest news from the tourism sector in order to emphasize our students and graduates. Furthermore, our WTO membership will help us in the transfer of tourism knowledge within all areas where it is part of the discipline, from education, training and sustainability, and impact of very positive in our students. Similarly, Martínez del Vas said that the University will have access to eLibrary by WTO application "will help us fully develop our research in the field of tourism", has qualified.
