Training in Equality and Prevention

From the Department of Social Welfare, Political Equality and Citizen Participation of Municipality of Murcia, coordinates and implements the development plan for equal opportunities between women and men in the city of Murcia, with the right framework to promote gender equality and women in our town.

In this sense, achieving the target as 2.2.1.

Plan which aims to "improve and increase the awareness and information to citizens on gender equality" has been defined this project as embodied in the implementation of 12 workshops of equality and promotion of co-responsibility in the Domestically, aimed at males.

The target group has been classified into three age groups: Older Men, Young Men recent Padres, adapting the contents to the reality of each group.

4 workshops will be conducted for each group.

The workshops are taught by teaching professionals and social sciences, specializing in gender equality, members of the association "Men for Gender Equality"

Service to battered women

The City of Murcia, from the Department of Social Welfare and Promotion of Equality, Women's Section, performs comprehensive care to women who suffer abuse, responding to this problem, from the fields: legal, social, economic, educational , psychological and property through a multidisciplinary team specialized in this type of intervention.

Among the resources for addressing and resolving cases of violence against women, the City also has two shelters.

These resources are integral treatment they need to leave the situation that has provoked the violence, which is complemented and reinforced by information and publicity campaigns aimed at the entire population, with the aim of raising awareness and engaging society.

Since the municipal staff of attention to violence against women (EMAVI), are also conducted all municipal activities related to awareness, information and training in this regard.

- The average age of female patients is 37/38 years.

- Women hosted in other host resources: 14 women and 20 children.

- Number of women in the municipality with mobile tele-assistance service: 24 (8.05%)

- Deaths caused by violence (national) confirmed deaths until November 15 (Source: Violence Observatory of the Ministry of Gender Equality).

Total: 62 confirmed. 3 cases under investigation.

Spanish: 38 (61%) and abroad: 22 (39%).

Regional level: 1 woman (in the municipality of Murcia died 11 -5 -2010.
