Federico Guajardo, the restaurant 'Salt Sea' in Denia (Alicante) has proven winner in the semifinals of the Levant Chef of the Year contest, and thus has achieved first place in the national final to be held in Barcelona in March 2012.

More than 400 area professionals attended yesterday at the Tourist Center of Competence in the parallel activities of the competition (Chef and TV awards), making the semifinals at a great feast of gastronomy.

The Chef of the Year is a culinary event endorsed by the three-star Michelin chef, Martin Berasategui and aimed at professional chefs.

The day ended with the awards ceremony in which various authorities have been present as Marina García, Director General of Tourism in the Region of Murcia, Beatriz Hontoria, Councillor for Employment, Civil Protection and Development Cooperation of the Municipality of Murcia and Jose Marcos Restaurants president of the federation Hostemur.

Federico Guajardo was born in 78 in Cipolletti, Argentina, and came to Spain in October 2002 to undertake an internship in the Finance Benazuza (two Michelin stars), Seville.

He subsequently worked in the restaurant Alicante 'Reixes Towers "where he worked as sous-chef and, until today, the' Salt Sea ', where is head chef.
