Begin tomorrow at the University of Murcia the Second Conference on the teaching of science and engineering (17/11/2010)

Tomorrow, Thursday 18 November will be inaugurated in the Social Center Campus Universitario Espinardo the "Second Conference on the teaching of science and engineering, which will run until Saturday 20 November.

These Days, which have been organized by the School Board of the Region of Murcia, Murcia University, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment, are aimed at teachers of secondary school and university.

During these three days will analyze the current status of these teachings and give new experiences and teaching resources, while proposing measures for improvement, both curricular and methodological.

Among the speakers who will participate include the presidents of the Royal Spanish Society of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Natural History, and the Royal Spanish Academy of Engineering.

Also academics from Valencia, Castilla la Mancha and Madrid, and the director of the Science Park of Granada.

The keynote will be delivered by José Manuel Sánchez Ron, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Autonomous University of Madrid, a member of the Royal Spanish Academy of Language and of the European Academy of Arts and Sciences.

He has written several popular science books.

At the conference 340 teachers have registered and have submitted 49 communications.

The Closing Ceremony will be attended by the Minister of Education Training and Employment Constantine Sotoca Carrascosa, and José Antonio Gómez and Félix Faure Cobacho Mateu, Regents of the University of Murcia and Cartagena Polytechnic respectively, and the School Board Chairman Murcia Luis Navarro Candel.
