The doctoral thesis by Esteban Velasco Hidalgo at the University of Murcia, which analyzes the state of radiation protection and quality control of dental treatment, concludes that it has increased in recent years but is still insufficient.

This research, which has obtained excellent cum laude, studied the application of basic radiation protection measures contained in legislation approved in 1990 for what he has studied over 19,000 official reports of quality control of diagnostic radiology dental dental clinics belonging to that use some type of intraoral radiology equipment.

These dental clinics are divided by forty Spanish provinces from 16 autonomous communities.

Doctoral thesis notes that the entry into force of legal rules "has been a slow and continuous improvement in all parameters examined, although the degree of compliance with official guidelines for radiation protection and quality assurance in dental radiology is still unsatisfactory .

The study was led by Professor of the University of Murcia Miguel Alcaraz Baños.
