These culminated in a meeting in San Sebastian and another in the CONAMA (National Environmental Congress), in which some 60 municipalities decided to move towards the establishment of the Network of Cities for Bicycle.

In March 2009 took place in Seville a great event related to the promotion of cycling: the second Conference of the Public Bike, the Constitution of the Network of Cities for Bike and Business Platform Meeting of the Bicycle .

Murcia is part of this network since its inception, with the council of the Environment and Urban Quality, Adela Martinez-Cache, a member of the board.

The Network aims at generating a dynamic between Spanish cities to facilitate, develop and safer movement of cyclists (particularly in urban areas) to do so by all necessary actions to promote the bicycle as a transport and enhancing the initiatives taken for the same purpose by the government, associations and other social partners ..
