The Mayor Chamber submits concrete proposals from the Plan Move to the approval of Murcia This marks the final step before final approval. (12/11/2010)

The Plan proposes to create a network of integrated and intermodal transport to replace the current system of overlapping lines.

The study proposes to amend more than 40 connections and bus lines.

Regarding the tram, is scheduled for completion in 2014 the connections with the station Carmen, La Arrixaca and Park West.

Groups, users and citizens can know in detail the initiatives and suggestions for a period of 3 months.

The number of buses on the Gran Vía will be reduced by 80,000 vehicles a year and reordered up to 24 lines in the municipality.

First unveiled its guidelines to citizens last May.

Later, in July, were presented to local political groups and the presidents of municipal boards.

And now, following the road map which undertook the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, all actions are specified in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Murcia (Move Plan).

The move plan is a revolutionary new model of urban transport for the XXI century.

The Plan aims to integrate urban development and territorial mobility to facilitate the accessibility of citizens to its activities with the least environmental impact and safely as possible.

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, presented this morning at the Bureau of Mobility concrete proposals for an extensive study that is the most complete radiography of public and private transport of all time, their wants and needs, as well as preferences and concerns of users.

The main axes of the proposal are:

Axis 1.

Public transport strategies.

Axis 2.

Promotion of measures to restore the urban and citizenship.

Pedestrians, cyclists, accessibility and road safety.

Axis 3.

Control and management of traffic and circulation.

Axis 4.

Management measures and regulation of parking for private vehicles.

Axis 5.

Measures to improve the distribution of parking for private vehicles.

Axis 6.

Mobility Management.

Of all the sectors

At the meeting held in the Plenary Hall of the City of Murcia attended by representatives from trade associations, employers, consumers, car, bus, professional associations, governments and universities, among others.

The Mobility Plan is now subject to public exhibition for a period of three months so that in that period, all information is known entities, users, groups, associations or individuals who wish to make suggestions and concerns, which Plan will incorporate the necessary corrections resulting from estimation of the information presented.

The proposals will be developed in the short term (2011 -2014), medium term (year 2014 - 2018) and long term (2018 - 2022).

Mayor House has stressed that the Plan proposes to create a network of integrated and intermodal transport "to replace the current overlapping lines."

Moreover, he added that proposed changes in more than forty lines connections and bus transport.

Regarding the implementation of the new tram, Mayor House explained that the Mobility Plan includes the completion of the connections between the Plaza Circular, the station of El Carmen, La Arrixaca and Industrial Park West in the period from next year and 2014.

These new proposals are in addition to those that were announced to the Bureau of mobility in their day.

To summarize, these are the most important initiatives of the new Plan of Sustainable Mobility Murcia.

1.

Basic tram network.

It is planned tram network core consists of the following lines:

- Line 1: Plaza Circular-Malls-public and private universities.

Entry into service: 2011.

- Line 2: Plaza Circular, El Carmen, El Palmar and Industrial Park West.

To implement between 2011 and 2014.

- Line 3: The Carmen-Beniaján-Torreagüera "The Ramos.

To implement from 2018.

- Line 4: The Carmen-Sangonera la Seca Raceway.

To implement from 2018.

2.

The express bus line Carmen-Plaza Circular.

From 2011 to operate an express line clean buses, with a frequency of 4 minutes, will link the Floridablanca Garden and Plaza Circular.

In 2014 this line is replaced with the Line 2 tram.

All bus routes will be the last stop South Garden Floridablanca, where travelers can make a transfer to the express line.

Similarly, the Northern Bus Lines completed its path in the Plaza Circular or Espinardo exchanger.

Consequence: The movement of buses in the Gran Vía will be reduced next year from the 278,602 trips made in 2009 by conventional vehicles to 135,534, representing a decrease of 51.4%.

3.

Transport interchanges.

Exchangers serve to link and coordinate the various public transport, connecting bus lines, tram lines and cycle tracks routes.

The proposed interchanges are:

a.

Short term:

- Square Circular exchanger, connected to Line 1 of the tram.

- North Interchange: in Avenida Juan Carlos I, Espinardo.

- Exchanger Floridablanca Garden: Linked to the new express line.

b.

Medium term:

- Station of El Carmen, Floridablanca will replace the heat exchanger.

Parking Exchange.

Are sharing the parking spaces will be possible to park private vehicles at different points of the edges of the city, so that citizens can use public transport, thus promoting intermodality.

There are three areas of action envisaged.

- Access Avenida Juan Carlos I-Espinardo: Parking will be linked to the transport interchange, with a capacity of 275 vehicles and connected to Line 1 of the tram, as well as lines 41, 44, 49, 52 bus.

- Access Avenida Juan de Borbon-Churra: With a capacity of 204 beds will be connected to the tram line 1 and lines 10 and 44 buses.

- Rear Víctor Villegas Auditorium: Connected to 4 bus line, this will have 520 parking spaces.

5.

Simplifying the fee structure.

The Plan proposes to deepen proposals for users paying a single bill, to make your trip using the means of transport which they wish (bus and tram).

6.

Traffic calmed areas.

The traffic calmed areas will be located in the center of the city and its immediate extensions.

These are areas where the goal is to reduce traffic by setting up short-term the following actions:

- Limiting the speed to 30 km / hr.

- Installation of speed bumps to prevent the increase in vehicle speed and provide continuity to the pedestrian and sidewalk crossings.

- Narrowing of the roadway to enhance the capacity of the pavements and reduce vehicle speeds.

- Signaling restricted areas or pedestrian areas.

7.

Major attractions of citizens.

Move Plan also provides for joint action in those areas to attract citizens, among which are the Espinardo Campus and Los Jeronimos, shopping centers North, hospitals, railway station or industrial estates.

8.

Increased public transport.

These measures will allow a change in the public transport system, which will go from 8.8% now to 19% in 2014, 25% in 2018 and 33% in 2022.

By contrast, the use of private cars is currently 52.4% drop to 40% in 2014, 33% in 2018 and 25% in 2022.

9.

Environmental improvement.

The initiatives planned major objective is to improve and increase public transport system, improving the quality of life of citizens of Murcia and improving the environmental situation through a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, traffic congestion and noise pollution and vibration.
