The City will purchase five hybrid vehicles to reduce air pollution (10/11/2010)

The City will purchase five hybrid vehicles thus seeking lower fuel consumption and less emission of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Labasa is the company that provides these cars, Toyota, for an amount of 108,000 euros, which have been funded through an agreement with the Directorate General of Local Government of the Autonomous Community.

Thus, these vehicles consume about 3.9 liters per 100 kilometers, producing only 89 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

This is possible because, while in the boot there is a zero consumption of gasoline, since it manages the power system, "in normal driving concur both engines and the acceleration are used to fund both.

Moreover, the slowdown is used for energy recovery and recharge the battery.

This will meet another measure of the Local Strategy to Combat Climate Change, established by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, in late 2007 and which stated that it would gradually replace the municipal vehicle fleet with more efficient .

The City Council is undertaking several measures to encourage the use of such cars.

Remember that some months ago the mayor signed a protocol of actions with Iberdrola to design a network of charging electric vehicles and the purchase of equipment and installation thereof in public spaces.

The interest of the City by encouraging the use of these vehicles is shown in the municipal taxes collected since 2008 a bonus of 30% in vehicle tax for the first three years for electric cars with low emissions.

This year nearly a thousand people will benefit from the measure.
