HUERMUR lines began working with various departments after the meeting with President Valcárcel (05/11/2010)

At the meeting held yesterday afternoon at the Palacio de San Esteban, which took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, the president was informed of the plight Valcárcel where is the garden of Murcia, and proposed a series of initiatives that help to value the cultural landscape distinguishing mark of the Region of Murcia, and the presentation of the candidacy of Pedro Jesus Fernandez to the presidency of the Board of Landowners.

The President was receptive to proposals for HUERMUR to work on a Comprehensive Plan for the Protection and Conservation of the Huerta de Murcia, considered a key step for the preservation of this landmark agricultural area and all its agricultural values, environmental, cultural landscape.

Valcárcel HUERMUR and agreed to a series of meetings between the association and policy makers and technicians of the Ministries with competence, such as Agriculture, Public Works and Culture, aiming to start preparing the main priorities for the drafting of the Plan, with target and some meetings this month.

Both sides agreed the damage it has suffered Murcia orchard and historic irrigation network, requiring the taking of urgent measures to help stop the degradation and turn our gardens into a resource for quality of life of Murcia.
