The University of Murcia and the Consortium for Fire Fighting investigated on hazardous chemicals (03/11/2010)

The University of Murcia and the Consortium for Fire Fighting and Rescue Services of the Autonomous Community will collaborate in research on the hazardous properties of chemicals to prevent accidents and develop training to act against disasters caused by them.

These are two of the activities under the framework agreement signed today in Convalescence of the rector, José Antonio Cobacho, and the Minister of Justice, Manuel Campos, in his capacity as chairman of that consortium.

The partnership agreement also provides for work experience students from the University Parks facility's fire.

After signing the agreement, Campos stated that it has "a great social function" because of its content and importance of the existing petrochemical industry in the Region of Murcia, with the impact that this may represent the time of accident, before which is to be prevented.

For its part, the initiator, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Gregorio Sánchez, Professor Augustine Miñana, stressed that this Faculty has been working for years on these issues and, in particular on the potential effects gases emitted by the fires.

Closed the ceremony the president of the University, who has congratulated Miñana and the School of Chemistry for the effort in the study and analysis of dangerous products and prevent unintended consequences.
