The Murcia provide free internet access via wifi for free in parks and gardens of Murcia and hamlets.

All these points are connected by a backbone consisting of four point to point (about 15 miles each), 4 base stations (in the Prince of Asturias, in the Town Hall in the Fire Station and the Palace Sports), to be connected to the tower installed at the peak of Watchmaker, and 50 teams subscribers.

Thus, any Murcia with a laptop or a next-generation mobile phone can access unlimited (only not be able to access pages of pornographic or violent content) for free and without keys.

This not only allows users to connect to the Internet but will also serve to municipal officials (Local Police, Fire, Planning inspectors ...) can access computing resources of the City Council and the municipal network, which is in a better service the citizen.

It may also be used for other municipal services such as traffic control cameras, bicycle parking, irrigation control ...

The only limitation is that the maximum connection time without interruption is 30 minutes, so that users can not download movies from the internet.

The connection speed is, as establishing a National Commission of Telecommunications Market (1 / 2010 of June 15, 2010) of 256 kb per second, rising to 50 mb per second when it comes to web pages government, and published in the Official Gazette on Monday, August 9, 2010.

The project is endorsed by the College of Telecommunications Engineers and complies with all applicable laws including measures of health protection against radio emission of Royal Decree 1066/2001 of 28 September.

WIFI network of Murcia is completely safe for citizens since it meets all regulations, both national and international.

So it must be remembered that a point WIFI emits 100 times less power than a mobile antenna and a mobile half.

The cost of this project is 1.4 million euros financed by the Local Investment Fund.
