The City Council launches a new initiative to prevent obesity (27/10/2010)

Murcia City Council, through the Department of Health and Human Services, which runs Fulgencio Cervantes, will sign a cooperation agreement with the Foundation for Health Research and Training in the Region of Murcia (FFIS).

The objective of this agreement is to continue the research work from the Department of Health are conducting programs to prevent obesity.

It should be noted that the City has been paying special attention to programs for obesity prevention in the municipality of Murcia.

This work aims on the one hand, food intake, and on the other hand, energy expenditure, through the development of physical exercise with the program 4 / 40.

Thus, under that agreement, the FFIS will:

- Evaluation and design of the training needs of primary care professionals and technical staff involved in the program concerning the object of the Convention.

- Coordinate activities with the prevention and care activities carried out by the Ministry of Health and the Health Service of Murcia.

- Facilitate and contribute to the resources obtained to support the technical staff needed to carry out the development of the Convention in schools and municipal buildings.

- Evaluate the impact of efficiency and effectiveness of the program.

For its part, the City of Murcia is committed to:

- Determine, in implementing the Convention, the characteristics required of the technical staff who will join the program.

- Facilitate the use of units and community centers to be established jointly in the monitoring committee.

Jointly perform the planning and monitoring of activities.
