Environmentalists proposes a network of cable Internet access in front of the wifi option (26/10/2010)

The cable connection is faster, safer and electromagnetic pollution |

Ecologists in Action has been directed to the City of Murcia with the proposed establishment of a municipal network of Internet access by cable (coaxial or fiber optic), which has a comparative advantage over wireless systems, to be technically safe the further development of data transmission speed, not to falls or loss of signal, not to have interference from other wireless networks, and very important, not needlessly exposing the population of the municipality to Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) emitted pulsed microwaves by wifi, in a residential and continuous, which might pose a risk to public health.

Ecologists in Action has negatively valued the installation of satellite radio / wifi reception in traffic lights and streetlights of the town and some parishes, since it represents an increase of electromagnetic pollution in buildings close to the antennas.

The wifi system, compared with the safer option of cable internet access, contributes to increased electropollution adding to existing electromagnetic pollution proliferation messy, uncontrolled and chaotic base-station antennas for GSM mobile DCS and UMTS.

The environmental organization cites the recommendations of international research conferences on electromagnetic fields, such as the Benevento (Italy) in their proposed resolution: Promote alternatives to wireless communication systems, for example, use of fiber optic cable coax [1].

In September 2007, the European Environment Agency (EEA) states the need to challenge the limits of current exposure to EMF, including those emitted by wireless systems, according to the BioInitiative Working Group [2].

Finally, in April 2009, Parliament passed a resolution urging the European Commission to recognize, increasing public and scientific concern about the health risks of electromagnetic fields, pointing out in paragraph B. "the technology of wireless devices (mobile phone, Wifi, Wimax and Bluetooth, your DECT landline) CEM issues that can cause adverse effects to human health [3]

Following the precautionary principle, Ecologists in Action has proposed, compared with wifi wireless system, the establishment of a municipal network of cable Internet access, whose comparative advantages outweigh the wireless access systems because it allows a higher speed access Internet, increase the transmission capacity and data exchange, has fallen and signal interference and, above all, do not add unnecessarily to the citizenship of Murcia on pulsed microwave electromagnetic fields in a residential and continuous.
