More than 70,100 students will benefit from new educational offerings of the City Council for the 2010/2011 academic year (10/09/2010)

Nature, environment, science, history, art, consumption, and driver education are some of the issues that students work The Consistory also offers educational programs and activities for the general population within the program 'The city also teaches'

More than 70,100 students during the 2010/2011 academic year participating in the educational activities of 'The city also teaches', proposed by the Department of Education and Youth, directed by María Dolores Sánchez.

These are activities aimed at schoolchildren in the municipality of Nursery, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training to "provide support to schools, developing complementary activities to the curriculum, using the city and its environment as a resource teaching, "explains María Dolores Sánchez.

In the planning of these activities involved a lot of public and private groups in order to develop all of their educational potential offered by the city and promote freedom of expression and values education.

Educational provision for schools in the municipality during the 2010/2011 academic year will reach 70,132 students by awarding at least one activity per school unit and involved 2,886 student groups.

66 different activities will be conducted.

The offer is for all the schools in the municipality, which are 188, of which 118 are public elementary and primary, public secondary 25, 43 are concluded and two private.

During the 2009/2010 academic year have been carried out activities which have involved 63,341 students, 2,669 groups, 186 schools participating, 99% of the centers of the municipality.

Schools should apply to participate in activities through the web or intranet sites, performing all formalities online and avoid queues.

The bid for this course is divided into four major programs:

- Know your city

- Nature and the environment.

With eight different activities to Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary and High School.

- Expression and communication.

Six activities related to music and artistic expression for elementary and primary.

This year will be represented for the first time the play "Amadeus and the musical ground ', an educational show with puppets and classical music.

- Science in Murcia.

Six activities for kindergarten, primary, secondary and high schools, highlighting the new initiative 'The Planetarium and the living water', where students can observe the night sky, the celestial bodies, planets, stars and asteroids.

- History and Art.

Eighteen are planned activities for Primary, Secondary and to visit museums, heritage conservation and buildings.

- Education and road safety.

It offers seven activities for primary, secondary and high schools.

- Educational and Vocational Guidance.

Activities for the general population

The educational offer of the City of Murcia is not limited only to the proposed activities for schoolchildren in the municipality.
