The Minister of Social Policy press in El Palmar how to spend the summer in two major public housing (24/08/2010)

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, today visited the residence Virgin Valley and Bishop Azagra, located in the resort of El Palmar (Murcia), to learn directly about how they spend the summer over the region of Murcia admitted in public.

The Murcia region currently has 2,198 places for older people in private centers (1520) and own (678).

Of all the places listed, 2,043 are assisted and 155 geropsiquiátricas.

The advisor added that in the middle of next September is expected entry into force of another 80 places for residential and 20 assisted for geropsiquiátricos in home centers, built in the hamlet of El Verdolay Murcia.

Bascuñana also provided the number of places in day care centers in the region, amounting to 909 between themselves (335), arranged (324) and subsidized (250).

As for the schools visited today by the Minister, the Virgen del Valle Residence was opened in February 2008 with 100 seats, of which 99 are occupied by 53 men and 46 women, mean age of 74.5 years attended by 130 employees.

Residents may perform various activities such as horticulture and gardening workshops, physiotherapy and bowling Murcia.

In June, 23 more were spending some days in the resort of Isla Plana, part of the IMAS, and in September, will many others.

Also during the year, accompanied by internal staff, voluntarily and in his spare time, those who wish to go to malls and movie theaters, using the program "Film Major."

More recently, on 12 May, is the opening of the other residence, Bishop Javier Azagra, whose residents, 109, with a mean age of 84, come from the Joint Espinardo.

This new center has 130 beds and 110 employees.

The residence offers comprehensive care and permanent housing for the dependent elderly, who are intended to improve their quality of life, provide basic services for daily life, seek to promote integration and personal autonomy.
