The PSOE ciclocalles complaint that is the worst alternative for the safety of cyclists (20/08/2010)

The Secretary of Transportation of the Municipal Executive Socialist Rafael Richart, denounces the poor security conditions offered by new ciclocalles created by the city of Murcia in what it considers to be a new municipal government's image to appear to stand for the use of the bike when the opposite is true.

Richart ciclocalle states that the term actually disguises a street, in many cases a common road, with a sign at the driveway by dashed lines and a vertical signal intended to be shared by motor vehicles and bicycles.

The Secretary of Transportation says that in some cases these roads are used as axes of communication between districts which usually exceeds the recommended speed limit of 30 miles per hour which in many cases joins the bad state of roads.

Richart added "that improvisation used to define these pathways is such that it has been repainted some gray in not offering sufficient security."

According to the Secretary of Transportation explains, "the City has chosen the easy way to promote cycling at the same time the least guarantee the safety of cyclists."

Richart claims that "in an effort to include miles of track cycling trails have been marked some with high traffic density such as access from Guadeloupe and Ñora the highway, a step required from all villages of the environment as well as vehicles UCAM attend. "

On the other hand, also criticized the Socialists have not used other parts of the municipality due to its low traffic density could be used as ciclocalles and instead are created by dividing busways walking areas and gardens.

Moreover, they complain that the City is not taking advantage of the introduction of trams in the city to run with him a bicycle lane parallel, instead of the rider compete with pedestrians sharing sidewalks as in the Avenida Juan Carlos I.

Finally, Rafael Richart believes that the City was wrong to first make a Bicycle Master Plan and then the other on public transport.

For the Socialists, "both proposals should be analyzed and designed as a block together and to adopt decisions are related to calm traffic measures and the possible intermodality between different modes of mobility."
