A centennial magnolia nine meters presides over the Plaza Díez de Revenga (13/08/2010)

Díez de Revenga Square becomes a wooded entrance to the city after work on the car park of the Avenida de la Libertad.

The Department of Environment and Urban Quality has planted a century old magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora), acquired in Viveros Murcia, more than nine feet high and four feet wide at the base in one of the central islands.

Magnolia accompanying the six jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia), planted in another parterre, with a total height of between three and 3.50 meters and a trunk size between 18 and 20 centimeters.

This magnolia was in an old farmhouse in Girona and, because of restoration, had to replant it in a nursery near where he remained nearly four years.

Now president of the Plaza Díez de Revenga where installed for the first time in the town, a microclimate system (fog-system) that generates a mist of water around the magnolia tree which allows for better plant growth and plant keeps controlled temperature and humidity environment.

This misting system that keeps the wood moist specimen is connected to the irrigation network and can be automated to turn on as needed.

Besides the land on which was planted acidic peat enriched with specific fertilizers.

The situation at the entrance of the city makes this venue an area of special interest.

It is for this reason that the proposal aims to provide high quality items and unique, forming a uniform gap across the plaza.

With this proposal, the intention is to place a central element of great visual importance, which also allows a temporary decoration as events and developments taking place in this area.

Another action that have taken place in the Plaza Díez de Revenga is the placement, again after the work, the Monument to UNICEF, Maria Teresa Defruc, which are two children with the ball in the world, and digital clock that marks the time and temperature.
