Murcia built his belt road and responds to the economic crisis (13/08/2010)

The most ambitious road plan in the history of the city has had the scenario of the current Legislature and has been executed by the City Council, with support from Regional Government.

In the words of the Mayor, "to promote public works in times of difficulty for the Spanish economy and particular way for the construction sector has been the object launched by the City Council in the past two years."

The effort has resulted in an investment of 241 million euros and employment of 3,215 people, thus contributing to sustaining economic activity in the municipality.

These actions have to add nearly 30 miles of the highway Zeneta-San Javier in which the regional government has invested 111 million euros.

They are also in various stages of implementing others over 4,840 meters of new roads:

- Extension of Avenida Almirante Loaysa (whose works are nearing completion)

- New Beniaján Avenue, in the section from the FICA to Ronda de Levante (due to open in October)

- Liaison Ave Jeronimos and the Ñora Road, improving communications Beniscornia Corner (writing project)

- Shaft radial road between Dolores Avenue and South Coast (writing project)

- South Coast, the stretch between Santa Catalina Highway and Algezares (under construction).
