About 6,700 people visit the Astronomical Observatory in the course Murta 2009/2010 (11/08/2010)

Murcia is interested in astronomy.

This was revealed by the figures achieved by the Astronomical Observatory of the Murta from July 2009 until July 2010.

This course will conclude on Friday with an observation and explanation of the Perseids, for what is necessary to reserve a place previously.

In the 2009/2010 academic year the Centre visited a total of 6,672 people, schools and associations (Monday to Thursday) and the general public (Friday).

Thus, 2,287 people have been those who have visited the Centre and the general public and 4,385 schoolchildren.

Some of the activities that have developed this course are:

Astronomy · 22 workshops for children, summer schools districts of Murcia 2009, in Public Libraries in Schools and in town camps.

Urban Public · Observations with the title "Night of Galileo" in both places emblematic of our city and other towns in the Murcia Region a month with the crescent moon.

Were performed in total 49 Nights of Galileo "in the region.

It was estimated that from January to the summer of 2009 around 30,000 people across the region, had looked through a telescope.

This activity also serves to bring about the Centre to the citizens who have difficulty moving as is the case of persons with disabilities and older.

· Night Open, by appointment, at the Observatorio Astronómico, Nights of Galileo for the general public every Saturday, 2009

• Activities in Schools and at the Centre, with the title "You can be Galileo" at the Centre from Tuesday to Thursday.

Mondays are booked to bring the Centre to the Department with students without resources to pay for travel to the Centre.

In total we have done 72.

• Two courses Using telescopes at the Astronomical Observatory, where registrants bring their own telescopes and taught performance.

• An Astronomy Course for teachers with two visits to the observatory.

Reservation of seats for next year

Starting next Sunday, August 15, will allow the reservation of places to visit the Astronomical Observatory of La Murta, from 3 September.

This reservation can be made either by completing a form on the website www.observamurcia.com, or by telephone from Tuesday to Friday, between 11 and 14 hours, at number 968 616 683.

Every Friday visits are made in groups of 15 to 18 people, two or three age groups in general reserve can visit the Observatory.

Visits by schools will be held Monday through Thursday.

The visits to the observatory have the following organization:

· Visitors go to the Classroom and receive an explanation of Astronomy of initiation, in most cases.

The duration of the talk is about 30-45 minutes.

When families have very young children is projected to DVD, "Little Serenata Nocturna", while giving the explanation, so the children are entertained and tire less.

The Astronomical Observatory of La Murta, municipal property, open since 2001 and its construction was financed by European funds.

Located 28 kilometers from Murcia, Carrascoy Regional Park and the Valley is the only Spanish observatory of its kind that is free.
