Protective Equipment and Family Services intervened in 214 cases of gender violence or domestic (10/08/2010)

Protection Team and Family Care (EPAF), launched on 9 October, has intervened in the place of aggression in 198 cases of gender violence or domestic violence and has followed up in other 501 cases (putting contact with victims after the intervention of other units) in only ten months since its entry into operation.

These figures show the need and the success of the launch, ten months ago, this task force composed of seven women officers (one out, one officer and five agents) who provide care, protection and individual counseling to victims of gender or family violence.

Thus, according to data obtained during these ten months, from 214 cases in which it has intervened directly, 114 have been for 82 domestic violence and domestic violence.

In total 198 victims have been both gender violence as domestic violence, although there have been 214 interventions since there has been backsliding.

The profile of the victim in domestic violence interventions is:

- SEX: FEMALE

- AGE: 30/39 years

- CONTINENT SOUTH AMERICA

- Nationality: Ecuadorian

- RELATIONSHIP OFFENDER / VICTIM: PARTNER AND SPOUSE 27% 25%

In terms of interventions for domestic violence, the victim profile is as follows:

- SEX: FEMALE

- AGE: 35/45 years

- NATIONALITY: SPANISH

- RELATIONSHIP OFFENDER / VICTIM: CHILD 54%

In the case of domestic violence, the aggressor is usually the current partner of the victim while in the case of domestic violence is the son or daughter of the victim:

Regarding the territorial distribution which have been carried out EPAF Group interventions highlights the headquarters city of Murcia Infante and Fleet (with 103 cases) followed by the rest of barracks muncicipio (El Palmar Espinardo, Beniaján, Bacons Bridge, The Raya and Stables) with a total of 93.

This team has also participated in other municipalities on two occasions.

Both age more common in these cases of victims and offenders between 30 and 39 years.

Of the total of both domestic violence and gender, 157 assaults were committed by the Spanish, whereas if the breakdown is established by the sex offender, 147 assaults were committed by men and 62 women.

As for the victims, 144 have been attacks on Spanish, while sex, 175 were women and 23 men.

The EPAF performs the following functions:

· Facilitates health care to the victim

· Inspection eyepiece scene

· Interviews photographic scene

· Interviews photo of the victim's injuries, prior authorization

· Manifestations of witnesses

• In case of minors or persons who are particularly vulnerable in the scene are then sent to relatives or subsidized school

· Interview with the victim on the premises of EPAF

· Transfer the victim to a police station to lodge a complaint of facts

· Transfer the victim to his home to a family member or emergency center.

Besides informing the victim of social services resources, legal information, information about their rights and social resource information for the various public (foster homes, supervised apartments, financial ...)

One of the most important functions of EPAF is to monitor compliance with orders issued by the court to offenders both interviews and personal contacts with the victim as regular home visits and regular telephone contact.

In these ten months, the EPAF has monitored compliance with restraining orders 77.

The members of EPAF accompany victims to hospitals to meet their injuries, the police station to lodge complaints, oral proceedings to avoid any situation of intimidation towards the victim, to collect their belongings from home if necessary and any other area which may require the victim to ensure their safety.

The schedule for this team are Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 21.30 pm, while during the evenings, weekends and holidays there EPAF staff on duty.
