The children's traffic park 25 years (05/08/2010)

The Children's Traffic Park, to the Department of Education is celebrating 25 years.

This municipal facility have happened during the academic year 2009/2010, 4,252 people, and about 90,000 people during its 25 years of life.

The objective of this facility is to train students for higher and better living in the public highway, always acting with responsibility, whether pedestrian, passenger or driver.

During the months of July and August the park will be under construction to improve the facility.

It will invest 144,000 euros, and the work consists of repairing roofs, painting walls, replacement of woodwork and metal parts, plumbing replacement and installation of aerator in the water-saving faucets, and replacement of the tiled toilets.

It also renewed the curbs, sidewalks will be paved, asphalt will lie in the firm, an upgrade of the drainage network with the placement of new manholes and pipes, will construct a new access door on the pedestrian entrance, renewed cobblestone pavement at the entrance to the exhibition areas, repeated vertical signs and traffic lights discs will improve the garden area, it will replace the terrazzo floor in the sidewalks and paint the area outside access to the site.

These works are funded by the State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability.

The activity of visit to the Children's Traffic Park is offered to students from Primary 5 to the various schools of the municipality, during school hours.

It consists of a road safety education talk for an hour of video display 'Learn to move with us', and practices on the slopes of the playground, driving karts and bikes.

During the course has completed 2,809 students have participated, 79 schools.

Children's Park has other activities such as visits to learning centers for Early Childhood Road Safety Education courses at its center, and then take the little Children's Traffic Park.

During the last academic year 189 students visited the park for Children.

Another activity is developed with children with special educational needs, 67 children have visited the park.

For activities that are developed with these little adapted tricycles are used, donated by the Provincial Traffic Department.

In addition, 656 students have participated in special activities held during cultural weeks and workshops specific road.

The Children's Traffic Park also has planned activities outside school hours as from Monday to Friday from 18 to 20 hours, and Saturday from 10 to 13.30 hours.

During this course has been attended to, outside school hours to 531 people, from PAI (Project Activities Children municipal), Groups welcome, nonprofit associations and the Center for Adult Education Bacons Bridge, among others.

The park opened in 1985 and is located in the palm garden in the neighborhood of La Paz.

It has an area of 6,000 square meters, with a hint of movement of 400 square meters with double rails.

Inside the complex there is a workshop-garage-storage where they are deposited all vehicles (tricycles, bicycles and motorcycles) and the material used for road safety education practices, playing traffic situations with all the items on the road public.

It also has a classroom of about 90 square meters, with seating for approximately 40 students which provides the teaching, children and young people participating in different activities of the municipal road safety education.

It is staffed by local police.

The Children's Traffic Park is a valuable resource for teaching driver education and for children, youth and adults in the municipality.

The resources that are available in center: 65 bikes, 3 trikes (special education), 2 SCOOTT (special education), 21 karts, mopeds 7, 45 karts and motorcycle helmets, training room and folders on the program Driver Education which includes guidance 'Moped and security' Etrasa.

In addition, each year the Provincial Traffic Department provides the park with different materials (karts, motorcycles, caps and materials) to develop the planned activities.
