Municipal Service of Social Services, which runs Fulgencio Cervantes, primary care organizations throughout the municipality through the three Municipal Social Services Centres, of which 31 units depend Social Work and socio Areas in which we divide the municipality to ensure access for all citizens to all resources and benefits to which they are entitled.

The Councillor for Social and Health Services, Fulgencio Cervantes, this week visited the new offices of the Social Work Unit (UTS) of the head of Torres, which is the social work unit with the largest population (25,000 people) of all which depend on the Municipal Services Center North Murcia, covering the districts of Cabezo de Torres, and Zarandona Churra.

This unit is also very significant the presence of certain sectors of the population with special emphasis on primary care of social services (immigrants, aged 65, under 16 years ...) which means that it is one of the Social Work Units with the highest number of annual events and manages a large number of records.

The new store is located a few meters from the previous location in the street Carmen n º 32 of Cabezo de Torres (Murcia), ground floor and no accessibility problems.

Its adaptation was made in 2009, with an investment of EUR 19,566.84, with a grant from the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration for 75% of that amount.

These new facilities have, in providing adequate facilities, strengthen the staff that serves the territorial demarcation and improve the quality of services provided, to have several simultaneous workspaces for professionals:

The professionals assigned to such units, dependent on the Municipal Services Center North Murcia (Espinardo) are:

- A social worker from Area.

- A social worker support UTS

- A Social Educator.

- An ordinance.

In addition, new facilities allow other professionals from the Municipal Center of Social Services to provide support to the team, moving regularly:

- An administrative assistant who moves on alternate days to review documentation and administrative support to the UTS.

- The school psychologist when his presence is required to handle cases in the area.

In the next chart you can see the significant increase in demand seen at the coverage area of the new facility, being especially significant the data referred to 2010, and that although they are related to the first 6 months of the year, accounts for almost the 65% of all cases seen over the past year

The new facilities have allowed:

- Provide adequate facilities to enable the simultaneous attention of users by several professionals, given the extraordinary increase in demand occurred in the area in recent years: three spaces for simultaneous attention.

- Improve public access to various services and resources offered by the network of Primary Care Services: both the accessibility to the facilities and by improving the conditions of care and diversification of the professionals present in the facilities simultaneously.
