The Regional Government, through the Presidential and Public Administration, will make available to municipalities a special line of funding of up to 300 million euros from 2011 for municipalities to cope with the current expenditure.
The announcement was made Councillor of the area, María Pedro Reverte, and the Mayor of Murcia and President of the Federation of Municipalities in the region, Miguel Angel House, at the end of the meeting of the executive committee of that body.
It will be a "rescue plan to the letter" in response to particular financial situation of each municipality, and shall be "unconditional" non-finalist, to be each council to decide what the funds intended for either costs operating and investment decisions.
So exact, municipalities with populations exceeding 50,000 may have up to 15 million euros each, depending on economic needs require.
The proposal, however, has to save a difficulty arising from the Royal Decree that approved the National Government through which forbids local authorities turn to credit to finance investments in 2011.
In this regard, the executive committee has unanimously approved FMRM invite the President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, to send a letter to the Third Deputy Prime Minister requesting an urgent meeting to discuss this matter.
The aim is to promote legislative changes that allow precise autonomous granted loan guarantees to alleviate the situation of financial strangulation of the municipalities.
The creation of this fund unconditioned joins other measures provided by the Regional Government and in force, as the increase in current expenditure envelope for the municipalities and the elimination of municipal financing in certain actions, so that subsidized work by the Autonomous Community does not have to also have local funds.
