Moya-Angeler: "Since 2008 we are a major effort to reduce spending without harming the Murcia" (27/07/2010)

The Deputy Mayor of Finance, Joaquin Moya-Angeler, he said, in response to a press release issued by the socialist municipal group that does not know the origin of the data provided to the media and calls to stop manipulating municipal accounts at will to confuse Murcia.

Moya-Angeler also recalled that from the City of Murcia has been making a major effort since 2008 to reduce spending without hurting the pocket of Murcia.

In this sense, the head of the Treasury has stressed that in times of crisis that the government must have a more active social policies aimed at the elderly, women, children, disabled, etc..

and everything that means the provision of social services, basic care and health education to improve the services citizens receive.

She also pointed out that the City of Murcia has left to join 44.5 million euros.

Of the total, 13 million is the amount that the State should have entered into city coffers and has forced the administration to undertake a major effort.

Regarding taxes in 2009 were allowed to enter by capital gains, ICIO, licenses and tax benefits totaling 31.5 million euros.

Nevertheless, the City Council of Murcia have been able to carry out a major reduction in spending by the implementation of an austerity plan focused on the following measures:

1. Freeze salaries for council members, officers and temporary staff.

2. Creating a Spending Commission, which controls all expenditures in excess of 600 euros.

3. Reduction of contributions to parties.

4. Reduction of Christmas lighting.

5. Freezing the purchase of furniture and fixtures.

6. Freezing the purchase of vehicles and adjusting the current fleet.

7. Reduction of the electricity bill, by lowering the intensity and adjusting the on and off.

8. Reduction of overtime and shift the crucial days.

9. Reducing costs and receiving protocol.

10.

Reduction of 50% of advertising expenditure.

11.

Deletion of 80% of regular mail to calls for actions, is now handled via the Internet.

12.

Downward revision of current contracts by 10%.

13.

Control of fuel for city vehicles.

14.

Control of air conditioning use in municipal buildings.

Regarding the measures that have been built this year should be noted:

1. Reduction of salaries for council members, officers and temporary personnel, approved at the last plenary, but were already frozen for two years.

2. Reduction, generally 30% of subsidies and suspension of others.

Finally, Moya-angel said that all these measures have yielded positive savings, estimated at 5,035,000 euros, representing 1.5% of the total budget.
