The House of Bacons Bridge Bethlehem will have the first installation of electricity generating heat from the earth (26/07/2010)

The Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, through the Regional Agency for Energy Management of Murcia (Argema), launched in the House Clock Bacons Bridge Murcia hamlet, a building that will become the House of Bethlehem, the first electricity generating facility with heat from the earth in order to cover part of the building's HVAC needs.

For the rehabilitation of the Casa del Reloj, the Ministry and the Municipality of Murcia signed an agreement in which Argema appointed as technical support to include energy efficiency measures, and to design demonstration facilities related to renewable energy in the building In particular, an awning to produce solar energy and geothermal station.

The latter consist of an air conditioning machine for geothermal heat pump cooling capacity of about 21,000 watts, with geothermal probes placed horizontally in the patio area to one meter deep.

It is therefore a low temperature system.

For its part, the project includes an awning / sun canopy on the decks with a total area will be 54 square meters.

"To get maximum production modules have been chosen thin layer thin-film 'with greater performance to any angle, providing a constant horizontal orientation by the nature of the awning / canopy," said the director general of Industry, Energy and Minas, Jose Francisco Puche.

The facility has an inverter for grid connection of the power obtained through photovoltaic solar collectors.

The power will be 1.85 kW.

"With the pump of 21 kW Clock House, can save about 6,823 a year, compared with conventional heat, equivalent to 0'587 tons of oil annually burned to produce energy which would issue 2,647 '3 kilograms of carbon dioxide a year, "said Puche, adding that" with the installation of solar awning could produce about 1,900 kilowatts, which would generate 737'2 kilograms of CO2. "

In total, the two facilities based on renewable energy will decrease about 3.5 tons of CO2.

Remember that the Ministry and the Municipality of Murcia in March signed an agreement with the objective of creating the House of Bethlehem, which will open its doors in late 2011 and involved the recovery of the Clock House, a tower house mid-eighteenth century in the center of Bacons Bridge.

This project is a support to the crafts sector and gutter with a high social interest, ethnographic and historical tourism.

The building, whose restoration project is undertaken by Urbamusa with advice from the Directorate General of Trade and Crafts, preserve the unique elements of the Casa del Reloj, as the tower or the internal structure, and will house three exhibition halls, a projection room and a conference, office and store objects of Bethlehem.

In addition, with a garden surrounded by porticoes, where artisans can develop their business, bringing together outdoor signs.

Geothermal Training

Geothermal is a renewable energy source is gaining special importance in the recent initiatives taken by the regional administration.

In fact, on Monday began a course in CEMACAM Argema summer to bring this technology to engineers, architects and technicians.

The course, which has enrolled 30 students, seeks to highlight existing resources and technologies for the utilization of geothermal energy both for electricity and for heating of buildings, the latter being a type of energy-efficient air conditioning.

Will also know the history and experiences of both private and public sectors.
