The University of Murcia has received the personal archives of the former professor of this institution in the Republic and Minister Mariano Ruiz-Funes, who is paying tribute during the next year, as announced by the rector, José Antonio Cobacho.
Cobacho, who has called Ruiz-Funes of "eminent criminal lawyer and one of the best politicians Murcia," he stated when submitting the file during a ceremony held in Convalescence that "deserves a tribute, and we will prepare for next year ".
For his part, Consul General of Spain in Mexico City, Herminio Morales, who has been involved in the efforts to bring the file from that country to Murcia, expressed his satisfaction at having been involved in this operation.
Professor of Contemporary History has commented Encarna Nicolás Ruiz-Funes that he "never wanted to be political, but perhaps because of his friendship with Azaña agreed to be Minister of Agriculture first, and then for Justice."
"His writings on European fascism and the Spanish situation - he added - are valuable and are exceptionally accurate, and its human and scientific categories are beyond doubt."
The nephew of the late professor at the University of Murcia, Manuel Ruiz-Funes, has highlighted the fact that this file has come to this institution "exactly 57 years after his death."
Cobacho thanked the family of politician and professor at the donation of these files, "which are open to researchers and the doctoral thesis to be undertaken."
The documentation that is already at the University includes numerous letters of Ruiz-Funes both his role as professor and politician, and some of its activities as an advocate in councils of war.
His articles and notes dealing with ana, Spanish universities during the Franco regime, the Constituent Cortes and his activities as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Spain in Poland and Belgium.
