The green areas of the Infante show a new face and employ a score of unemployed people (25/04/2018)

The works that are being executed include anti-vandalism furniture, new playgrounds and gerontogimnasia, shading, landscaping, painting, gardening and improvement of accessibility.

There are five parks and gardens benefited by this initiative of the City Council and the SEF: Rosique Painter Street Garden, Teaching Plaza, San Juan de la Cruz Avenue, San Benito Square and Dr. Manuel Serrano Garden

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Modernization of Urban Administration and Development, José Guillén, and the Councilor for Pedanías, Participación y Descentralización, Marco Antonio Fernández, visited this morning the renovation works of the green areas of the neighborhood of the Infante, in which a score of unemployed people are working, and which will allow improving the quality of family leisure in the main public spaces of the neighborhood.

Specifically, there are five parks and gardens benefiting from the improvement work promoted by the City of Murcia, with labor subsidized by the Employment and Training Service: Garden Street Pintor Rosique (executed at 90%), Teaching Square (concluded), San Juan de la Cruz Avenue (executed at 50%), San Benito Square (start on Monday) and Dr. Manuel Serrano Garden (if they start soon).

The works, which began in December and will end at the end of June, include installation of anti-vandalism furniture, new playgrounds and renovation of existing ones, areas of geronto-gymnastics, installation of shade, landscaping, painting, gardening, improvement of accessibility with the creation of cobbled corridors, elimination of architectural barriers, renovation of the fence and irrigation network.

The action has a social component, since for its execution 21 people were selected who were unemployed, most of them with ages over 55: three foremen, 15 masonry officers and three gardening officers.

The City of Murcia has financed the sum of materials, auxiliary means, machinery and study of Safety and Health, while the SEF has subsidized the workforce.

In addition, José Ballesta recalled that "in the neighborhood of the Infante the City will build one of the nine 'playgrounds' with which the municipality will have a wide and innovative area for leisure and sports for both children and adults, that will host the Juan Torres Fontes garden, and whose project is already being drafted by the Department of Modernization ".

New LED luminaires in the streets of Infante

The City Council, through the council that directs Rebeca Perez, Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, has also installed new LED lights in the neighborhood, with which you get a reduction in power of between 60% and 70% .

In Infante Don Juan Manuel Avenue, a complete renovation of the street lamps has been carried out, with 27 new double points.

In the rest of the main avenues (San Juan de la Cruz, Pío Baroja, Vicente Aleixandre and Santa Joaquina de Vedruna), LED luminaires with a performance of more than 14,000 lumens have been installed, while in the rest of the vials the same luminaire has been installed. Avda. Infante (11,000 lumens).

At the beginning of this year the town hall also improved the lighting of the Garden of Mari Trini (former garden of the Lake), at the request of the neighbors.

Visit the Floridablanca Institute for its 50th anniversary

José Ballesta also visited the IES Floridablanca, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and toured the works of the outdoor painting contest in which the students of 4th ESO and Bachillerato have participated, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of José María Párraga and the 50th anniversary of the institute.
