The Governing Board has given its approval to the foundations of the XXVI Business Projects Contest that calls the Department of Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs competitive competitive regime.
The objective is to help and motivate Murcian entrepreneurs in a search for opportunities and business ideas that favor the creation of companies and reactivate the economy and employment.
The main novelty of this edition is that, in addition to the three main prizes, a special accésit has been created that will be delivered to the project that produces the best presentation video.
Persons with habitual residence in the municipality and legal persons (small and medium-sized companies) whose corporate and fiscal domicile of the business project is Murcia may participate in this contest.
The participation of projects of non-resident persons or entities, or domiciled outside the municipality, may also be admitted provided the project is planned to take place in the municipality of Murcia.
They must have a start date after January 1, 2018 and may refer to any type of sector or economic activity, and, in the case of expansion of existing companies, the project must involve a minimum increase of two workers above the average weighted the template in the twelve months prior to the contracting date and is an innovation with respect to the initial project of the company.
Applications for participation in the Competition will be presented in the General Register of the City of Murcia by means of an instance enclosing, among other documents, a description of the business project that includes the description of the activity to be developed, the necessary investment in a detailed manner and rhythm of execution of the same, the planned funding, cost analysis and estimation of billing in the first year, the initial jobs and expectations of growth in the medium term and a video with a maximum duration of 60 seconds of presentation of the Business Project.
The deadline for submission begins with the publication of the rules in the BORM and on the Murcia City Council website and will end on July 27.
Selection in two phases
The City of Murcia, through the Center for Municipal Initiatives, will inform, advise and guide all those interested in participating in this call.
The selection of the projects will be carried out in two phases.
In the first, the project will be studied analyzing the level of development, the difficulty of the project, the place of implementation, the innovative nature and the creation of jobs.
The second phase will consist of a personal interview in order to know the data referred to the promoter or promoters and the project they present.
The promoter will have 10 minutes to make his presentation in which he will talk about the market to which the services are directed, the identification of the client, the level of competence and key competitors in the market, the experience and dedication of the project promoter, as well as where appropriate, the milestones achieved, the investment and financing plan, the forecast of expenses and sales for the first year of activity and the innovation and added value provided by the project.
The total amount of the prizes is 60,000 euros divided into the following prizes:
- First Prize: up to a maximum of 20,000 euros and a training grant amounting to 3,600 euros in ENAE Business School, awarded by the University Business Foundation of the Region of Murcia
- Second Prize: up to a maximum of 15,000 euros and a training grant amounting to 1,500 euros in ENAE Business School, awarded by the University Business Foundation of the Region of Murcia
- Third Prize: up to a maximum of 10,000 euros
- Special Award for the best Presentation Video of the Business Project: up to a maximum of 1,500 euros
The jury will make a first assessment for the award of the Special Accésit for the best video of the Business Project, in which only the projects submitted until June 8, 2018 will participate. It will be done according to the best presentation, creativity of innovation incorporated into the presentation, and virilization index.
Screening at a public gala
The videos will be screened at a public gala that will be held before June 30.
After the screening, the jury will assess the videos and issue the ruling for the award of the special runner-up, which will be compatible with the awarding of the other prizes, so the winner will choose all of them with the rest of the participants.
The jury of the XXVI Business Projects Competition will be constituted by the mayor or councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, a representative of each municipal group and representatives of the Association of Social Economy Companies of the Region of Murcia, of the Union of Cooperatives of Associated Work, of the Association of Young Businessmen, of Workers Commissions, of the University-Enterprise Foundation, of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals, of the Winners in the Business Projects Contest of 2017 and of the Institute of Development of the Region of Murcia.
