More than 400 young people participate in the second phase of the Road Safety and Accident Prevention Contest (18/04/2018)

Among the objectives, it is pursued to adopt habits of citizen awareness in the field of circulation or to value the importance of respecting the rules and traffic signs. Students choose prizes such as bicycles, tablets, computer equipment, watches or sports headphones.

The Councilor for Education, Rafael Gómez, attended this morning to the second phase of the XXIX Contest of Road Safety Education and Accident Prevention, framed in the Road Education Program, coordinated by the Department of Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage and in collaboration with the Department of Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection, aimed at students of 3rd year of Compulsory Secondary Education (14 and 15 years) of the Municipality of Murcia.

This is a contest that consists of passing the multiple-choice tests, a questionnaire of 30 questions on rules and road signs and first aid, in three eliminatory phases: The first one was held at the end of March and included the attendance of one member of each group.

Today, the second phase was held in the premises of the Local Police, with the 144 groups being summoned, which means attendance of 432 students, distributed in five shifts (9:30, 10:15, 11, 11:45 and 12:30 h) of 45 minutes each;

time for the realization of the theoretical test in test format, on traffic signs, standards and first aid.

The best teams will play the final phase on May 4.

It should be noted that the police responsible for the Road Education Programs, have made the dissemination by the Secondary Centers distributing the documentation of the Contest.

The dissemination was made among all the Secondary Schools, reaching 4,320 students, of whom 48 schools, 144 groups with a total of 432 students, expressed their intention to participate in the contest.

In the field of education and road safety, Education Administrations incorporate curricular elements and promote actions to improve coexistence and the prevention of traffic accidents, so that students know their rights and duties as a user of the roads, as a pedestrian, a traveler and a bicycle driver.

The specific objectives pursued by this activity are:

Adopt habits of citizen conscience, referred to the circulation.

Value the importance of respect for standards and traffic signs.

Observe responsible conducts in the conduction of bicycles and mopeds, respecting norms and signals related to traffic.

Know and identify the causes of the accident risk group between the ages of twelve and sixteen.

Know and criticize the institutional campaigns related to the improvement of traffic safety.

Adopt behaviors according to habits of prudence, regarding the speed of the vehicles that are driven.

Know and practice the first measures of safety and first aid, in case of accident.
