The Virgen de la Fuensanta returns tomorrow to her sanctuary after celebrating the anniversary of her coronation (16/04/2018)

The Virgin of the Fuensanta will receive today the last samples of affection of the Murcians that visit it in the Cathedral, since tomorrow it will return in pilgrimage to its sanctuary, after the mass of the 7:00 hours.

The patron saint of the city of Murcia visits the capital twice a year;

this time he does it to celebrate the anniversary of his coronation, which was on April 24, 1927. On the morning of yesterday this anniversary was commemorated, with the celebration that began at 11:45, with the prayer of the Hour Sixth, which preceded the Eucharist, both presided over by the Bishop of Cartagena.

Archbishop Lorca invited those present to seek the intercession of Mary, in her invocation of the Fuensanta: "she is the one who accompanies us on the path of life, in the perpetual pilgrimage of each one, to welcome our tears for the sufferings and pains and to always point us the way to the Risen Christ ".

During the homily, the Bishop encouraged those present to read carefully the new apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis, Gaudete et exsultate because holiness "is not for a few, it is the mayor of all!".

Bishop Lorca described some of the ideas in the document, stressing that above all it is a message of "good hope".

He explained that -according to the Pope- we must give the best of ourselves in the great challenges and also in the small gestures, "rejecting criticism, listening with patience and love, saying a kind word to a poor person".

He also stressed that the Christian is called to "transparently" the face of Christ every day and that the Beatitudes are the best way to do it: "Pope Francis tells us that they are like the identity card of the Christian".

Bishop Lorca once again invited all those present to pray for the gift of rain, "so necessary for the entire Region of Murcia."

The Brotherhood of the Christ of the Rescue of Murcia also participated in the celebration, with the image of its owner, who celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding this year.

The Bishop recalled the devotion of the city of Murcia to this image, especially the first Friday of March.
