Marco Antonio Fernández, Councilor for Pedanías, Decentralization and Participation: "We want to promote active intervention in public activity, favoring this right of citizenship and thus increasing the protagonism of the neighbors."

Facilitate participation processes, enhance the necessary instruments that facilitate or encourage collaboration between administrations are some of the actions contemplated by this agreement approved today by the Government Board

The commitment for citizen participation between the City Council and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia supports the basis of the collaboration agreement between both administrations, whose text has received this morning the approval of the Governing Board.

This agreement, articulated through the Department of Pedanies, Decentralization and Participation and the Ministry of Transparency, Participation and Spokesperson, reflects various measures to encourage citizen participation in decision-making, increasing the protagonism of the neighbors in the involvement in the public affairs.

Marco Antonio Fernandez, responsible for this municipal area, says that "there is no better way to guarantee the transparency of public activity than to involve citizens in decision-making, that is why we want to encourage citizen participation in our municipality to the maximum."

Good Government Code

The City of Murcia is committed to this agreement to facilitate processes of citizen participation before the development of public actions of special interest among the population of the municipality, enhance the instruments of citizen participation, promote a Code of Good Government of elected officials of the City Council, encourage collaboration between administrations and open data and promote the development of service letters for each area of ​​the municipal corporation with annual commitments and compliance indicators.

For its part, the Autonomous Community will offer support and advice through the Office of Transparency and Citizen Participation of the Public Administration of the Region of Murcia, promote training actions in this area, promote periodic meetings for the exchange of good practices in Matter of citizen participation, among other actions.

"Participation is a very important and very valuable for the City of Murcia, so we see the need for collaboration between the different administrations, thus optimizing resources, and provide citizens with their right to participate in public activity," says the councilor of Pedanías, Decentralization and Participation.
