The beach volleyball show comes to Los Alcázares from the hand of the UCAM (11/04/2018)

The beach of Los Narejos is already prepared to receive some 150 participants from forty universities around the country that are cited in the final phase of the University Beach Volleyball Championship organized by the UCAM.

Throughout the day there have been the accreditations of the participants and the technical meetings with the delegates of the different participating universities.

The competition starts tomorrow and the final rounds for the medals will be played on Friday.

The action will be developed on five tracks installed on the beach in front of the Paseo de Los Narejos on the back of the Costa Narejos Hotel.

The two couples of the UCAM come to this tournament with the aim of taking the victory: Liliana Fernández and Elsa Baquerizo (female box) and Óscar Jiménez and Alejandro Huertas (male box).

It will not be easy, the level of this university tournament has increased a lot in recent years and has several national and international players in different teams.

It is the first of the two championships that the UCAM organizes this year.

The next one will be taekwondo (May 19) also in Los Alcázares.

The UCAM already leads the medal table in solo

Meanwhile, the competition continues in other final stages and the Catholic University continues adding medals and expanding its dominance in the national medals table.

In table tennis, which takes place in Linares (Jaén), she has won six new medals: four golds in women's singles (Sara Ramírez), in men's singles (Miguel Vílchez), women's doubles (Paulina Vega and Sara Ramírez) and men's doubles (Marcelo Toledo and Miguel Vílchez);

one silver in individual women (Paulina Vega);

and a bronze in masculine individual (Marcelo Toledo).

In Baeza (Jaén) the final phase of karate is disputed and the great dominion of the UCAM that has doubled gold and silver in katas (Pepe Carbonell and Sandra Sánchez, first and Sergio Galán and Lidia Rodríguez, second) is also outstanding.

In kumite, great results were also obtained with six medals: gold for Rocío Sánchez, Manuel Rasero, Jagoba Vizuete and Pablo Arenas, silver for Cristina Ferrer and bronze for Nadia Gómez.

It is therefore added the team gold achieved in karate, with a total of eleven medals in this discipline.

These medals are added to the twelve achieved in cross country and badminton placing the UCAM at the head of the national ranking with 29 medals: 20 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze.
