Murcia change has demanded today the councilor for Planning, Environment, Water and Garden, Antonio Javier Navarro Corchón, the urgent call of the Working Committee that addresses the Special Plan for Landscape and Monumental Protection Paseo del Malecón, which takes months without meeting , after "the slowness" of the City Council has led to the fulfillment of the two-year urban moratorium.
Councilman Sergio Ramos has explained that this Plan, which should have been approved in 2007 and whose initial approval took place in the Board of Government in February 2017 following a motion presented at the Plenary Session of the City of Murcia in January 2016, aims to protect and value what remains of the garden in the Paseo and its surroundings, emblematic spaces in landscape and cultural.
The mayor recalled that there is a first draft of the Plan that was made without participation and led to disagreements with the neighbors, so Navarro Corchón undertook to create a working group with representatives of civil society, political formations, professional associations and affected residents.
However, that group has only met twice, the last before last summer, so the works are stagnating despite the moratorium established by the City Council prohibiting new construction in this area of ​​Murcia's garden is already compliment.
The municipal training has urged the municipal government to consider as a priority the protection of the Malecón as a whole and, for this, has urged it to comply with the motions approved in the Plenary as presented by Cambiemos Murcia requesting the authorization of a party area that prevents the degradation of the botanical garden of the Malecón.
So far, the Consistory has used this space next to the Cultural Interest Asset, as an event venue, which - Ramos has argued - places great pressure on this historic garden, contributing to its gradual deterioration.
