Murcia will dawn flowery and radiant morning (02/04/2018)

More than 200 workers complete the work in the 16 Spring Gardens.

José Ballesta discovers the 'Homage to the Murcian Woman' by Antonio Campillo, on Avenida Libertad, a floral monument suspended in the air of 5.5 meters in height and 300 kilos in weight, which recreates the sculpture of the Murcian master with more than 2,500 bouquets of flowers and 12,500 stems.

The more than 200 workers of the City of Murcia are today giving the final touches to the 16 Spring Gardens, four floral arches and artistic works created with flowers in the various nerve centers of the city, which tomorrow will look florid and radiant to welcome the hundreds of thousands of people who will take to the streets to celebrate Bando de la Huerta.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, visited today the works that are being finalized in the different public spaces of the city and discovered one of the most singular: 'El homage to the woman from Murcia 'by Antonio Campillo, who is already suspended on Avenida Libertad, a large floral work of 5.5 meters in height and 300 kilos in weight, which recreates the sculpture of the Murcian master with more than 2,500 branches of Siempre Viva and 12,500 stems

"It is a reinterpretation of this monumental work by this universal artist who, in each creation, expresses his love for the land of Murcia.

Tomorrow the arrival of spring can be lived in every corner of the city;

an exceptional reception for the hundreds of thousands of visitors and tourists who will accompany us to enjoy the great day of Murcia and our parties, "said the mayor today, adding that" Murcia's art and culture, as hallmarks of our land, will be a faithful reflection of the vitality of Murcia in the different corners of the city, creating a unique itinerary that can be traveled tomorrow by all the people who join us to live our Bando de la Huerta, a festival declared of International Tourist Interest ".

On Wednesday and Thursday, at 7:00 p.m., the groups of the Tunas Costa Cálida Contest will haunt the Murcian Woman together with the floral sculpture of Campillo.

Under the motto 'Spring begins in Murcia', the City Council has adorned the 16 Spring Gardens with 250,000 cut flowers and 200,000 flower plants and will recover, as in previous years, the tradition of floral arches in Santo Domingo, Santa Isabel, San Juan and the Aurora.

The balconies of the Town Hall and the Episcopal Palace have also been decorated.

Glorieta de España: Limonero suspended and tribute to Mariano Ballester and Ramón Gaya

Taking as reference the century-old Japanese artisan technique of growing plants, it stands majestically in the heart of the city, one of the most representative elements of the Murcian garden: the lemon tree.

Suspended in the air, the 25-year-old specimen defies gravity by appearing to reach for the water that sustains it, swollen with fruit and orange blossom.

La Glorieta also hosts the tribute to the painter Mariano Ballester 'Huertanos', in which you can see represented his characteristic pair of huertanos and the tribute to Ramón Gaya, with the recreation of the famous cup of the Murcian master, with a couple of carnations inside .

Libertad Avenue: Homage to the Murcian woman

With his inimitable style, his unmistakable talent and the purity of his forms, the maestro Antonio Campillo expresses his love for the Murcian land that saw him born with this beautiful sculpture named "Tribute to the Murcian woman" reinterpreted for the occasion from a structure of great size, covered with flowers that give us a new and spectacular vision, by the format and color, of the work of such a masterful artist.
