La Glorieta hosts the celebration of the International Day of Civil Protection (03/03/2018)

The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Traffic and Public Safety, Lola Sánchez, and Councilwoman Rebeca Pérez, visited this morning the activities organized to celebrate the International Day of Civil Protection giving visibility to the work they do and looking also to attract volunteers.

A few days that have served, explained the Mayor so that "the Murcia know first-hand the intense work done by our volunteers in a totally altruistic way, as they collaborate in a very important way to ensure safety in our municipality. also to encourage those interested to join as volunteers to do so as they can participate actively protecting the lives of people, their property and the environment. "

From 10.30 the Plaza de La Glorieta has hosted an exhibition of the media with which the Association of Volunteers, bringing to all visitors the two new vehicles purchased.

In addition, there have been workshops on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, takings of constants, as well as an informative talk about the Psychosocial Unit, among other activities.

But it is not the only day of recognition, since on March 9, starting at 9 o'clock, the Psychosocial Unit will give a talk at the Claudio Galeno Institute to the students of the Health Emergency Technician.

On March 13th, the Health Unit will explain its work at the Miguel de Cervantes Institute to the students of the 2nd Emergency Health Technician, showing their ambulance and the adapted vehicle as Command Post and transmissions, while on the 15th, At 10 o'clock, he will do the same work at the Paradigma Foundation, where he will talk about First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

It must be remembered that the International Day of Civil Protection commemorates the entry into activities of the International Civil Protection Organization (ICPO) in 1972. The objective of the aforementioned organization is to develop national defense structures in the member states, with the purpose of reducing and preventing disasters in the civil population.

The main objective during this day is to publicize the importance of this type of organizations in the development of a society.

In addition, people are encouraged to be prepared and to know about prevention and protection measures in case of disasters or accidents.

The day was created in 1990 by the International Organization for Civil Protection (OIPC).

This day is celebrated on March 1 of each year.
