52 sports federations participate in the celebration, which will take place on March 10 and 11 in a large area of ​​110,000 m2 in the surroundings of the José Barnés sports center and the Prince of Asturias pavilion and last year registered more than 30,000 attendees.
Alternative sports, such as Laser Tag or eSport, drone simulators, Terra Natura exhibitions and musical performances are some of the main novelties.
The Sport Festival celebrates its III Edition on March 10 and 11 in a large area of ​​110,000 m 2 which includes the surroundings of José Barnés sports center and the Prince of Asturias pavilion with a total of 88 activities that can be enjoyed on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm and, from 10 am to 5 pm, on Sunday, March 11.
52 sports federations participate this year in the most important Base and Family Sport Festival of the municipality, which offers the opportunity to practice for free in 88 different activities, open to people of all ages.
In the 2017 edition, more than 30,000 attendees were registered.
The Mayor, who this morning presented the event, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, and representatives of the main sports federations, explained that 'the appointment has been consolidated in the calendar of base sports activities in just two editions' and made an invitation to 'participate massively because all people, of any age and physical condition, can find a proposal tailored to them'.
The program includes the use of 12 facilities, located on an area of ​​110,000m 2 , from the Prince of Asturias to the Cagigal pavilion.
The facilities are: the Prince of Asturias, Santa María de Gracia Pavilion, Mar Menor Swimming Pool, José Barnés Skate Park, José Barnés Sports Center, Fofó Park, Fofó Park Auditorium, José Barnés Soccer Field, Nuevo Cagigal Pavilion, La Vega, Murcia Tennis Club and adjacent outdoor areas.
This year as a new addition to the party is an Olympic shooting gallery, the 1st Crosstraining Regional Championship, alternative recreational sports, such as Laser Tag, or new sports, such as eSport, with 3 competitions throughout of the weekend or simulators of drones.
The Sport Festival will also take into account the commemoration that same week of International Women's Day.
Therefore, a Master Class of personal defense for women organized by the Department of Social Rights and Cooperation will take place.
In addition, there will be complementary leisure activities, such as the Stolen Group concerts or the Sonrrilandia children's show.
Also, a wide area of ​​inflatables for the youngest will be bounded and workshops with Terranatura will be organized with an educational exhibition of raptors.
Likewise, this edition has the performances of the Office of Graffiti that will collaborate in the realization of a mural by seven artists who will decorate the walls of the beach volleyball center with health and sports motifs.
For this they will need 120 spray cans and more than two days of work.
Attendees will be able to observe live how this activity is carried out on Friday and Saturday, because the goal is that Sunday 11 is finished.
On the other hand, two environmental monitors will attend the informative and interactive caravan of the Road Cleaning and Waste Management Service dependent on the Department that directs Rebeca Pérez and manages Ferrovial Services, and will participate in the recycling and care of the environment to all who come to she.
The objective is to support the good practice of sport, favor a more sustainable environment and positively impact our environment, while highlighting the guidelines of urban hygiene in our city.
Attendees can enjoy different games, among which is Roulette of Waste, which is to try your luck spinning the wheel and, in case of guessing where the waste goes, you will receive as a gift one of the 5,000 backpacks of the Campaign #NSM .
A survey about waste and correct behavior on urban hygiene in public space will also be invited.
Likewise, the book "The Waste Game" allows us to learn in a practical way, with stickers, which is the correct container where to deposit the waste that, once separated, will become new objects thanks to the reuse.
Other activities that will be carried out in the Sport Festival will be the Gymkana of Road Cleaning and Recycling, the Race of Recycled Sacks and the game Encesta in the Right Container, in which they will have to apply their knowledge of recycling and street cleaning to the sport.
There will also be time for other team games, such as Los Bolos del Reciclaje and EcoRugby.
In this way, a fun and educational day will be enjoyed, where the public will learn aspects of urban cleaning, waste and good practices in the environment related to healthy living and sports habits, in the hands of Ferrovial Servicios.
