Let's change Murcia urges the City Council to pay the debts to workers of Home Help (21/02/2018)

Murcia change ask in the plenary tomorrow that the City will face as soon as possible the payment of overdue payrolls of home help workers, whose total amount is about 3 million euros, to which we must add the sentences to the Consistory for default and damages.

In a press conference, councilman Sergio Ramos explained that behind the situation of workers is the "misuse" of public money by the government team and the "bad treatment" that submits to the employees of the contracts .

Thus, he recalled that the PP decided, despite the debts that the company accumulated with Social Security, other municipalities and banks, extend the contract for a value of 10 million euros.

This he did "in the midst of municipal elections", added the mayor of the municipal training.

Ayuda a Domicilio committed to comply with the imposed conditions, but this "hardly lasted a month", because there were months of non-payment to the fifty workers who, despite not receiving their salaries, continued to carry out their work normally. situation, the Consistory, instead of rescinding the contract, "continued to enter their contribution punctually" while the entity accumulated "constant debts" that even motivated workers to have to resort to social assistance before the impossibility of doing against your basic expenses.

The defaults have come to justice, which has so far condemned the City Council, for being jointly responsible, on seven occasions.

The cost that the City Council must face in each process is, per worker, between 10,000 and 15,000 euros, and all "for not fulfilling what is obvious".

For Ramos, it does not make sense for the City Council to have each case deliberated individually, since that entails a greater economic cost.

For this reason, he has proposed that the City Council act in good faith, "take things seriously" and pay the workers.

In this sense, it has reported that the City has a withholding of payments amounting to about 2.5 million euros, an amount that does not cover all payments, is a large part of them and serves to " priority "in this situation that, in his opinion, is to pay what is owed.
