The Romea Theater hangs the sign of no tickets with the VI Contest of Chirigotas "City of Murcia" (21/02/2018)

The event, which will be held on Saturday, February 24, will give the 'Chirigotero del ańo' award to the Murcian actor Juan Bastida Arce and the 'Pito solidario' to TitereMurcia

Next Saturday, February 24, the Romea Theater will host the VI national contest of Chirigotas 'Ciudad de Murcia' organized by the chirigota of Beniaján and in which three groups will participate: the chirigota of the Sheriff 'Los Quitapupas' and the one of Tino Tovar Verdejo 'Tic-Tac Tic-Tac', coming from Cádiz and the organizer under the name 'El Circo de las Sombras'.

The Councilor for Employment, Tourism and Culture, Jesus Pacheco, explained that "one more year, and there are six, this event is again held in an exceptional setting as the Romea Theater with all tickets sold out."

Pacheco added that "following our line of opening culture to society by holding events on the public highway, the chirigotas will once again involve all Murcians in their traditional humorous songs acting in the Plaza del Romea in the morning"

Thus, this event will be divided into two parts.

The first one, starting at 12 noon at the Plaza del Romea, will consist of a chirigotero aperitif by the participating groups, along with the chirigota of Molina de Segura and the traditional romanceros.

In addition, the Titeremurcia Association, elected this year 'Pito solidario', will install an information stand to publicize its work, its day to day and its needs.

The second part will be the event itself that will take place inside the theater in two sessions, one at 6 pm and the other at 10 pm.

At the end of the gala, presented by the journalist Fran Sáez for the sixth consecutive year, commemorative souvenirs of the Contest and Beniaján will be given to all participating groups.

It will also be awarded the 'Chirigotero del ańo' award, a prize that the joke of Beniaján gives to a public figure that bets on the diffusion of the chirigotas, the Murcian actor Juan Bastida Arce.
