The Socialist Parliamentary Group has made a visit this morning to this health center and has noted the overcrowding that patients have to endure and the heroic work of health professionals to provide them with dignity.
The spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group Joaquín López Pagán has denounced the permanent punishment of the Murcian Health Service to the 25,000 residents of the neighborhoods of San Antón, Nueva Cartagena, Media Sala and Mediterranean Urbanization, by unjustifiably delaying the construction of the second phase of the new health center, which currently only has the pediatric service.
"If Primary Care is the key element to avoid health problems and avoid collapses in hospitals, the Regional Government's bet is null and this center is an example of the lack of capacity and resources to attend to the citizenship of worthy way ".
This morning López Pagán with the socialist deputies Antonio Guillamón, Consuelo Cano and Ángel Rafael Martínez;
Councilor Obdulia Gómez and representatives of neighborhood associations visited the health center of San Antón, confirming the Third World situation in which they are treated.
López Pagán highlighted the "heroic work" that the professionals working at the San Antón health center perform daily, without which it would be impossible to provide the service.
"It is intolerable the collapse that professionals and patients endure in the current health center, where at least 500 people are treated daily in a precarious space and where medical and nursing staff have tiny consultations to perform their work."
Therefore, he claimed that the second phase, which the regional government has been repeatedly promising, budget after budget, is no longer a lie and is built without further delay and without further deceiving the population.
The socialist spokesman warned that despite the Regional Government announced three months ago the start of the works, "in the solar there is not even the poster announcer, so it is normal for neighbors distrust, since since they began their claim in 2004 they only received announcements that never materialize ".
In his opinion, the fact that now the regional government announces the inauguration of this extension for the same month that the elections are held in 2019, "makes us distrust again."
The regional government has contracted the expansion of the new health center for an amount of 1.4 million euros, when the contractor valued the works at 2.8 million, "so it is foreseeable that they can not be completed. PP is only moved by electoral interests, placing the welfare of citizens in the background of their policies, so it is logical that their credibility is increasingly deteriorated and social adhesions are losing ".
He recalled that the Socialist Parliamentary Group has presented numerous initiatives so that Area II of Health has a budget for the construction of infrastructures and staffing, to ensure quality health care.
However, again and again the PP has rejected all proposals with the support of Citizens.
