The project of acquisition of equipment and machinery for educational workshops in Bolivia receives 3,500 euros (17/02/2018)

The Department of Youth and Development Cooperation of the City of Murcia, through the call for grants of development cooperation projects last year, allocated about 3,500 euros to finance the project of acquisition of equipment and machinery for educational workshops and of carpentry in Bolivia.

A program launched by the NGO Oikia "Shelter for Street Children" for the need to improve the lives of children and youth in the neighborhood of Plan 3000 in this South American country.

"The objective of the project is to meet the needs and demands of young people, while achieving the expansion of the home school carpentry workshop is essential, because this way will expand the carpentry workshop for young people, who they do not have meeting points in the zone, they have the possibility of meeting and they can develop their potential to get a future, "said Councilwoman Rebeca Pérez.

The direct beneficiaries of the project are all children who go through the center daily.

Permanently there are between 10 and 15 children in street situation, being the social level of all of them is of extreme poverty and of total family helplessness.

They are usually children from different ethnic groups in the country, since Santa Cruz is a destination city for internal immigration in Bolivia.

In the nine years of existence of the project, about 330 children have been welcomed.

Also indirect beneficiaries of the project are the total population of the Plan Tres Mil neighborhood, which is around 300,000 inhabitants, since our project prevents children from being on the street and thus decreases the criminal and violent acts that these children could potentially do. if they stayed on the street.

They are joined by all the volunteers, national and foreign, (around thirty) who collaborate in it, because they all acquire theory and practice.

For this, the following actions have been taken:

Participation in different social networks, promoting the objectives for which Oikia was founded and making known who is the counterpart of Spain that works for maintenance.

Active participation in the platform of homes of the Archbishop of Santa Cruz.

Participation in the social platform of childcare centers in street situation in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

It helps the empowerment of children and young people who pass through the house and their families.
