The PSOE proposes an Investment Plan of ten million euros to adapt the public schools of the municipality of Murcia to the 21st century (12/02/2018)

Susana Hernandez defends that, "if the PSOE was able to allocate almost 16 million in the Budgets of last year for necessary investments in districts, the Ballesta government should be able, if it is willing, to budget ten million so that the public schools of our municipality cease to be in the last century "

The spokeswoman of the Municipal Socialist Group, Susana Hernandez, has called on Monday the government of Ballesta to develop an Investment Plan in the public schools of the municipality "to adapt to the XXI century."

Hernández has reiterated the main shortcomings of the public schools of the municipality of Murcia, among which are the lack of space, obsolete and insufficient electrical installations or the presence of asbestos that must be removed immediately.

This Extraordinary Investment Plan for the public schools of the municipality is one of the main commitments of the Socialist Group, which for years has required greater investment in the preparation of these centers.

"The public schools of the municipality of Murcia not only have not adapted to the 21st century but have regressed." There are numerous motions that the Socialist Group has presented and defended in the municipal Plenary to get investment in the placement of shadows, in the installation of air conditioning or the adaptation of the electrical installations to the new energy needs (as in the case of the use of electronic slates), the presence of asbestos, in full 2018, or the need to use assembly halls as classrooms, demonstrates the neglect of the PP in relation to public education, "explained the Socialist spokeswoman.

Hernandez recalled that the Organic Law 8/1985, which regulates the Right to Education, establishes minimum standards to be met by all public educational centers.

"The minimums contemplated by the law go through health, appropriate ventilation and natural lighting, good accessibility and elimination of architectural barriers, the existence of adequate spaces to provide support classes for students with special needs, a partially covered playground or a minimum of two meters per person in children's classrooms ... If we rely on these and other minimum requirements, we can say that the majority of public schools in the municipality of Murcia do not comply with the law and it is due to the complicit inaction of the PP " .

For this reason, the Socialist Group has urged the government of Ballesta "to allocate those ten million euros to enable the public schools of our municipality to the current century," and has said that "if the rest of the opposition groups comply with his responsibility to Murcia and the motion of censorship prospers, that Investment Plan for public schools will be a reality.
