The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, visited today the Rector Don Francisco Sabater García de Cabezo de Torres Institute (Murcia) where the Community carried out different actions for the partial remodeling of the stairs.
The improvement was achieved by creating an additional corridor and a staircase in plan.
With this intervention it is possible to facilitate the circulation of the two floors, allowing a visual control from the concierge area, without reducing the current spaces and without conditioning future extensions.
Likewise, the action improves the evacuation conditions of the institute, making this infrastructure a safer place.
The works represent an investment of 83,853 euros.
This action solves the circulation problems that were produced by the increase of students registered during the last years in the center.
The head of Education stressed that "these works will benefit the 679 students who are enrolled in the institute, and are part of the actions that are carried out in centers throughout the Region in order to prioritize the improvement of infrastructure to favor the educational quality ".
The Community increased the cost of running the educational centers to 17.5 million euros, an increase of 20 percent.
These expenses, in schools and institutes, include electricity bills, water, minor improvement works or material, as well as everything related to the maintenance of the centers.
