The Museum of Science and Water joins another year to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by organizing a series of activities that help to make visible the work of women scientists, to create feminine roles in the fields of science and technology and that promote practices that favor gender equality in the scientific field.

The activities will be held this weekend, starting today Friday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m.

This first workshop will be dedicated to the paleontologist Mary Anning and in it, children between 3 and 7 years old will be able to know the collection of fossils of the museum and enjoy a simulated excavation.

Tomorrow, February 10, children can enjoy 3 workshops, which will take place in the Water Room, made by the Cachivache Cultural Association.

The first of them, at 12 o'clock, will focus on the figure of the biologist Rachel Carson and you can create a multicolored jellyfish with simple materials.

The second workshop will be dedicated to the mathematics and writer Ada King.

Children between 5 and 9 years old will be able to make the Ada Byron game with recycled materials at 1:00 pm.

And finally, at 6 pm, the workshop 'How many picoeschinas are there in a circle?', Dedicated to Hypatia de Alejandría.

In this workshop that focuses on what could be the first scientist in history, the youngest can see that within a sphere you can include many geometric figures.

On Sunday, February 11, three other activities will be held.

The first of these will be the projection, in the auditorium, of the 2016 film 'Invisible Figures' that tells the untold story of three African-American scientists from NASA.

The entrance to this film, intended for all audiences, is free.

After the screening, a talk-colloquium on the invisibility of women in science will be held, in which journalists Marta Ferrero and Mª José Moreno will take part.

This activity is also free.

At the same time, at 13 hours, the last workshop offered by Cachivache will be held in the Water Room, which will once again be dedicated to Hypatia de Alejandría, but in this case figures can be formed using colored cylinders.

The price of all these children's workshops will be 1 euro, which corresponds to the entrance to the museum.
