Change Murcia presents allegations against the Bancal highway project (07/02/2018)

Murcia change has echoed the demands of the Neighborhood Platform against the Bancal highway and has recorded a dozen allegations before the Ministry of Presidency and Development to request the work stoppage and study an alternative that does not involve "open a wound "in the orchard of the municipality.

The sectorial group of Huerta and Model of City of the formation, that maintained yesterday a meeting with members of the mentioned Platform, considers that it does not make sense to continue with a projected designed in 2004, because the current reality, so much economic, as social and territorial , "is far from the forecasts made 14 years ago."

"Both the Bancal highway and the Reguerón highway are unnecessary because of their high cost - the works of each kilometer of the first one, according to calculations of the Platform, cost around 8.3 million euros, bringing the total cost for the 11.9 kilometers amounted to 98.6 million - and its high environmental impact in high-value garden areas in El Raal and Santomera, "said Councilman Sergio Ramos.

In this sense, he insisted that both were planned "in full urban boom with the sole purpose of facilitating access to second homes in the countryside of Murcia, near the coast," so continue with the same project "is how much less a nonsense. "

In the allegations, the municipal training has requested that a new environmental impact report be prepared and analyzed how to resize the project to adapt it to new needs given that both community and state directives and the needs of the population have changed a lot since the creation of the project.
