Ten cantaores aspire to win the V Contest of Cante Murcia Flamenca (06/02/2018)

The Flamenco Art Association, in collaboration with the Department of Employment, Tourism and Culture, the cultural association La Madriguera and the University of Murcia, organizes the V Contest of Cante Murcia Flamenca, which will be held on 9 and 10 February, in its qualifying phase and the final on Saturday, February 17.

The aspirants, five each day of the qualifying phase, will perform three singing styles chosen by them for 20 minutes while the jury will evaluate elements such as tuning, the mastery of the compass, musical expressiveness and the variety of styles, among others.

In the final, the selected artists will have to choose between four styles for a 30 minute performance.

The jury will also assess the difference between styles from the qualifying phase to the final phase.

The contestants who will participate on Friday the 9th at the Burrow, located on the Tocinos 30 Bridge Road, will be Nicolás Pelegrín Lario, Jesús León Márquez, Bernardo Miranda Luna, Rocío Belén Cuesta and José Olmo Carrasco.

Saturday 10 will be the turn of Silvia Reina Algeciras, Roberto Lorente Garcia, Alba Bazán Pecho, Pablo Coronilla Padilla and Lidia Pérez Correas.

The final will be held on Saturday, the 17th at 8:00 pm in the Auditorio de Guadalupe, where the first, second and third prizes will be decided, which will receive 1,350, 750 and 500 euros respectively, along with a trophy.

The entrance to attend the qualifying phase costs 5 euros and 4 for the partners of La Madriguera while Murcia Flamenca members can enjoy the contest for free.
