The CUVI of the UMU launches the computer-assisted visual therapy (05/02/2018)

The University Clinic of Integral Vision (CUVI of the University of Murcia (UMU) has launched the computer-assisted dicoptic visual therapy for treatments of amblyopia and binocular dysfunctions, which is responsible for Professor Francisco Lara.

This therapy is the optometric discipline that prescribes exercises, along with visual aids, to try to improve and correct specific vision dysfunctions: accommodative, bizarre and non-strabismic binoculars, diagnosed by the optometrist.

Currently, the development of computer programs that deal mainly with binocular dysfunctions and sensorial readjustments in strabismus, such as suppression and amblyopia, is of great interest.

Visual therapy programs work, basically, as a video-game, which makes them very attractive for children and adolescents, in addition to having the comfort that comes with being able to do them at home.

The CUVI has just added one of these programs to its services in visual therapy, with which the benefits that are being offered to its patients are increased.
