The City of Murcia allocates more than € 15,000 to improve the housing, socio-educational and environmental conditions in El Salvador (03/02/2018)

The Department of Youth and Development Cooperation, led by Rebeca Pérez, allocated 15,960 euros from the call for grants of development cooperation projects to "Improve the healthy, socio-educational and environmental housing conditions, with special emphasis on strengthening capacities and leadership, of 2 rural communities of Suchitoto Municipality, Cuscatlán Department, El Salvador ".

"We seek to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of 441 people, of which 233 are women, from the Platanares canton of the Municipality of Suchitoto, Cuscatlán Department, as well as contributing to improving socio-educational and environmental conditions, with special emphasis on strengthening of capacities and leadership, of 139 people (79 women) from the rural communities Zacamil I and Zacamil 2 ", explained the Councilor.

The project financed by the City Council serves as a complement to an intervention designed with the following lines of action:

1. Improve the conditions of habitability, safety and hygiene of the Zacamil I school, through infrastructure rehabilitation actions;

adaptation of the perimeter wall and access door;

construction of sanitary modules with a sanitation system at the Zacamil 1 educational center;

construction of a new classroom of 54 m2 for the nursery school cycle at Zacamil 1;

Replacement of classroom covers;

Flooring construction in areas of recreational use of students.

2. Develop agroecological practices with a focus on food sovereignty, with the training and awareness of 20 people (40% women), members of the educational community in agroecological techniques, and the start-up of 1 school garden that will replicate the experience of another already existing in a nearby educational center.

3. Strengthen the competencies for the management and prevention of gender violence in the school environment and the application of new technical-pedagogical methodologies of 16 people (40% women) members of the educational community and 10 members of the ADESCOs of the 2 rural communities, through training and awareness in these matters.

We must remember that ACPP-Murcia, is an NGO, non-profit, secular, independent of any partisan option, defender of democratic values ​​from an option of social and economic justice and that, since its birth in 1990, is firmly committed to pacifism, tolerance and dialogue.

For its part, the Salvadoran Foundation for Reconstruction and Development (REDES), is the local counterpart responsible for the direct execution of the project, it is an organization founded in 1989 and whose main field of activities is the promotion of economic development and of the Salvadoran population in a situation of poverty and social exclusion, having executed, since its constitution, more than 300 projects of international cooperation for development.
